New leadership in the Cuxhaven-Bremerhaven children's hospice: Azize Subasic is here!
There is a breath of fresh air in the Cuxhaven-Bremerhaven children's hospice. On November 24th, Azize Subasic was unanimously elected as the new first chairwoman. The 39-year-old, who comes from Kosovo and is the mother of seven-year-old twins, has been involved in the facility since 2014. Your strengths lie in structuring processes and coordinating procedures. In doing so, she wants to clearly place families and their children at the center of her work. “Every moment counts,” says Subasic in a nutshell.
Azize Subasic originally came to the club through a seminar and learned about various areas of responsibility there. Your specialization in coordinating activities can now be used to further advance the important concerns of the children's hospice. With her, the children's hospice of Rüdiger Kurmann, who ran the office for more than six years, will open a new chapter. Kurmann made a significant contribution to restructuring the team and modernizing the website and was able to regain the public's trust after difficult times.
Plans for the future
Subasic has big plans for the future of the children's hospice. She wants to increase the visibility of the facility and improve support for affected families. A central goal is to strengthen volunteer work, which is considered the foundation of daily work. The close cooperation within the board and the team is particularly important to her in order to further develop the existing offerings and open up new perspectives.
This happens not only in Cuxhaven, but also beyond. A film project by Florian Krempel, a master's student from Mainz, impressively shows how important and challenging work in children's hospice work is. The nine-minute short film, created as part of his master's thesis in journalism, documents the support of a family with a child with a life-threatening illness. It becomes clear how volunteers, like Rainer Kiefer, who is already one of the first volunteers at the German Children's Hospice Services, provide long-term support for the affected families. Their everyday lives and the relationships between the family members are impressively illuminated.
Together for quality of life
The focus in this film is on the quality of life of the sick child and the support for the parents and siblings. This reflects the approach that Subasic also follows in her work: putting people and their needs first, so that every phase of the support can be made as worth living as possible. It is important that volunteers and professionals work hand in hand.
The development in the Cuxhaven-Bremerhaven children's hospice and the reporting on the valuable work within the children's hospice work show once again how important it is to support families in difficult situations. With a strong team and fresh enthusiasm under the leadership of Azize Subasic, the children's hospice should be on a promising path into the future.
