Sail 2025: Bremerhaven expects 1.2 million guests and a top program!

From Thursday, August 13th to Monday, August 17th, 2025, Bremerhaven will once again be the scene of a maritime spectacle: Sail 2025 opens its doors and promises an unforgettable experience for all lovers of shipping and windjammers. After a long break of ten years, this impressive festival returns and is accompanied by some highlights that will make the heart of every sea fan beat faster.

Noteworthy is the visit of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is expected at the opening. On the opening day, August 13th, the Sail-In parade takes place, in which over 100 ships take part. Steinmeier will accompany the parade on board the traditional three-master Gorch Fock. A crowd of around 1.2 million guests is expected to come and enjoy the maritime atmosphere.

A colorful program for everyone

Sail 2025 has something to offer for everyone: Open ship offers are planned from 12 p.m. every day, during which the ships can be viewed. The stage program is illuminated by live acts such as Ronan Keating and Johannes Oerding. A medieval-style buccaneering village with hands-on activities and market stalls awaits the little sailors, while the older sailors can enjoy trips on the Weser.

A special highlight is expected on Saturday evening, August 16th. A spectacular laser show at 10:50 p.m. and an impressive fireworks display at 11 p.m. will light up the sky over Bremerhaven.

Safety and inclusion in focus

An important aspect of Sail 2025 is safety, as demonstrated by a newly created awareness team. These teams are dressed in purple vests and provide support for abusive behavior and discrimination. The idea of inclusion is also very important: trips for wheelchair users are offered by the Inclusive Sailing for All association in order to make shipping accessible to everyone.

The Maritime Days in Bremerhaven, which fall during the same period, also provide plenty of entertainment. Kayak strollers enjoy a variety of ships, music and culinary delicacies. Around 80 different ships are presented there, while the Open Ship offer is free for many of them. The highlight is the evening fireworks, which give the festival a festive setting.

A new Neus Festival complements the spectacle with a colorful program of international artists, concerts, workshops and parties. Gastronomic stands also round off the maritime flair and invite you to enjoy.

Sail 2025 is not just a celebration for ship enthusiasts, but an event that is intended to appeal to the whole family. So let's go to Bremerhaven when it's time to cast off again and go full speed ahead!
