Zverev in the final in Vienna: The ultimate challenge against Sinner!
On October 25, 2025, Alexander Zverev brought a breath of fresh air at the tennis tournament in Vienna. In the semifinals he defeated Lorenzo Musetti 6:4, 7:5 and thus reached his 40th ATP final. Zverev celebrated a decisive victory after three failed attempts against Musetti, over whom he had previously not been able to record a single triumph. Another reason to be happy: This was his 300th victory on hard courts, a real milestone in his career.
With prize money of around 2.7 million euros, the tournament is one of the richest ATP 500 events. In the final, the Hamburg native will now face Jannik Sinner, who is also under pressure as second in the world rankings. Sinner won confidently against Alex de Minaur in the semi-finals and is no stranger to Zverev: the two last met in the final of the Australian Open, where Sinner had the upper hand.
The challenge in the final
Zverev describes the upcoming final as the “ultimate challenge”. Despite health problems that have affected his performance recently, the player goes into the match with optimism. Back and elbow problems were the main reasons that even forced him to take injections for his problems. After a series of defeats, including at the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia, Zverev still shows confidence and plans to take part in the upcoming tournaments in Vienna and Paris.
He also comments on the comments of Boris Becker, who has criticized Zverev in the past because of his performance issues. “Becker is looking for attention,” says Zverev and is not impressed by his opinions. Despite his setbacks, he remains optimistic, especially with regard to the upcoming ATP Finals in Turin, for which he wants to get fit.
A sport with tradition

The German Tennis Association recorded an increase of around 16,000 tennis players in 2024. The infrastructure is also impressive: Germany has a total of 45,084 tennis courts and is therefore well positioned. The sport of tennis, which counts over 87 million players worldwide, is also an economic factor with an estimated market value of 6.7 billion US dollars in 2024.
