Major fire in Bremen-Kattenesch: Fire brigade fights against flaming inferno!
There was a dramatic fire in Bremen-Kattenesch today, shortly before 1 p.m., that quickly got out of control. As buten un binnen reports, the fire department was alerted with a contingent of around 50 emergency services who had already dealt with a major fire in Hemelingen as well as numerous smaller operations during the day. The flames spread from a converted mid-terrace house to two neighboring houses, which posed an extraordinary challenge for the emergency services.
“It was an extremely demanding day,” said the fire department spokesman, who described the situation as extremely tense. The fire could only be contained by using special extinguishing equipment and opening roofs and false ceilings. The fire brigade used, among other things, two turntable ladders and several pipes and deployed respiratory protection teams to fight the flames in the buildings. A COBRA extinguishing system was used to specifically combat the flames, which the fire department considered essential.
Damage and injuries
Fortunately, there were no injuries during this operation, although some residents were spotted by emergency services. Nevertheless, the affected residential buildings had to be abandoned for an indefinite period of time because the damage to the roof trusses and upper floors was classified as significant. Extensive renovation work is expected in the coming weeks in order to provide the affected houses with a safe home again.
The cause of the fire is still unclear, an aspect that needs to be further investigated as part of the investigation. In parallel to this major fire, the fire brigade in Bremen was busy with almost 40 other operations, which further increased the burden on the emergency services. The day was a big challenge not only for the firefighters, but also for the entire community.
