Police stop dangerous sugar rocket experiment in Bremen!
In Bremen-Neustadt, more precisely in the Buntentor district, a potentially dangerous experiment by a father and his son was prevented. On August 13, 2025 at 2:30 p.m., police received a tip from the 11-year-old boy's mother. She had asked her husband for assistance with the final assembly of a so-called “sugar rocket,” which led her to alert the authorities. Loud Picture The father (56 years old) wanted to initiate the experiment for his son to make him happy. But the plan turned out to be questionable.
During a search, police officers found a bag with flammable ingredients, consisting of sugar and potassium nitrate, on Lake Werdersee. The material was immediately secured by specially trained personnel from the Federal Police's defusing group. For a deeper analysis of the material, it was taken to a laboratory to assess its hazard and possible flammability. The incident not only aroused the interest of the police, but also led to an investigation into a possible violation of the Explosives Act.
Warning about dangerous experiments
The police have issued strong warnings against carrying out such experiments, which are often presented as harmless on social networks. Such an experiment can quickly get out of hand and entail significant risks, both for those involved and for those not involved. This experience clearly shows that pedagogical approaches to experiments in the home environment should always be carefully considered.
