The last few days have shown the real potential for severe weather in Lower Saxony and Bremen. Thunderstorms, rain and hail hit the region on July 15, 2025 n-tv reported. A cloudy sky led to the German Weather Service (DWD) issuing an urgent warning of possible storms, particularly in southwest Lower Saxony, where heavy rain and hail could occur.
Temperatures over the last few days have ranged between 21 and 24 degrees, with only around 20 degrees recorded on the coasts. Additional rain and increasing cloudiness were forecast for Wednesday night. Isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out this night.
Weather forecast for the coming days
As the DWD notes in its current forecast, the weather will remain changeable in the coming days. From the morning onwards, thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in the eastern addressees. In particular, rainfall amounts of 20 liters per square meter can fall within a short period of time, and hail can also play a role. The strongest regions include the Emsland and the areas along the Elbe, where local quantities of 30 to 35 liters per square meter are even possible, as on the DWD website is to be read.
The weather remains turbulent on Friday night, with the possibility of fog forming in southern Emsland, which could reduce visibility to less than 150 meters. A temperature of 23 to 25 degrees is forecast for Friday, while the nights are initially expected to be clear, but later cloudy and cool.
