Focus on anti -Semitism: Danger for Jews in Germany increases dramatically!

In the past two years, the security situation for Jews in Germany has intensified. This emerges from a current report by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, which states a significant risk situation. The Vice President of the Protection of the Constitution, Sinan Selen, found in Berlin that the boundaries between legitimate criticism and open hatred and violence are increasingly blurring. Extremist groups use the conflict in the Middle East to pursue their ideological goals, while normalization of anti -Semitic statements assumes alarming proportions. [Deutschlandfunk] (https://www.deutschlandfunk.de/verfektungschutz-sebliche- faumlungs-Fuer-Juedinnen- and-Juden-in-Deutschland-100.html) reports of 2,225 anti-Semitic incidents between October 2023 and December 2024, which illustrates the alarming extent.

After Hamas's devastating terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the Jewish community in Germany is experiencing a massive increase in anti -Semitism. The Federal Association of Research and Information Center Anti-Semitism (RIAS) not only documented an increase, but also describes the situation as a “depressing normality”. Average five events with anti-Semitic content take place every day-impressive compared to just one per day before the Hamas attack two years ago. ZDF indicates that the report determines an increased networking of various political groups that come together against the hatred of Jews.

Protests and increasing attacks

The situation is not only reflected in the numbers, but also in the current protests. In many cities, including Munich, people actively campaign against the increasing hatred of Jews. Nevertheless, Jews report a worrying increase in threats and attacks. The Hamas health authority reported more than 67,000 deaths among the Palestinians in the course of the Gaza War, which also emotionally heated up the conflict. Tagesschau added that the anti-Semitic incidents were directed directly against Jewish communities in 32 German cities.

The Vice President of the Protection of the Constitution also warned that the upcoming second anniversary of the Hamas attack could potentially trigger a new wave of extremist events. Anti-Israeli actors and left-wing-anti-imperialist groups are being networked more and more closely, which further reinforces the feeling of uncertainty among Jews in Germany. These developments from society show a clear attitude against any form of anti -Semitism in order to promote and secure peaceful coexistence.
