On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the municipality of Herxheim experienced a colorful spectacle when the large carnival parade moved through the streets. According to Rheinpfalz took over the festive event. The conditions were ideal because the sun shone around twelve degrees in mild temperatures. The move was accompanied by the police of the Südliche Weinstrasse district, which guaranteed the safety of the participants and spectators.

The event was the end of the street carnival and offered an exuberance that consisted of the classic calls of "Helau", booming basses and popular carnival hits such as "Johnny Depp" and "Wackelkontakt". The atmosphere was consistently happy and attracted people of all ages who whirled in creative costumes.

About 50 groups had set up to get involved in the move. The creative mottos of the participating cars, which presented a colorful variety, were particularly remarkable. The topics included "Wild West", "Super Mario", "90s", "Lego", and "Harry Potter". The Guard of the CV Narrhalla Herxheim was also shown under the motto "Confetti in the heart, camels in the bag". An integral part of every carnival parade are the sweets: small spectators were able to look forward to plump bags. The move lasted about two hours and went without any significant incidents. Spectators enjoyed the spectacle of windows and balconies, and in interactions, “manor” was thrown into the crowd.

At the end of the event there was a award ceremony, in which the most creative participants were awarded. The vouchers went to the following groups:

Special thanks went to the helpers of the move, including the fire brigade, police and security services. Community Mayor Christian Sommer praised the support that had contributed to the smooth implementation of the festival.

In the context of these exuberant celebrations, it is important to mention that carnival, also known as the Fastnacht or Mardi Gras, has a long tradition in Germany. The origins go back to ancient Rome, where festivals have already been celebrated in honor of God's Saturn. Today, large moves are taking place in various regions of Germany, especially in the Rhineland, which often treat political issues satirically. Tradition is kept alive in Herxheim, and the anticipation for the next carnival parade in 2025 is already noticeable.
