Fire devil in Bernburg: Three cars burn in one night!

In early Friday morning, April 11, 2025, the fire brigade in the Salzland district, Saxony-Anhalt, was called to several fires. According to a report by TAG24 Brachen around 1:50 a.m. in the Olga-Benario-Straße flames on a vehicle. The emergency services were able to delete the fire quickly, but the car was badly damaged. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The second assignment followed around 3:36 a.m. on Wettiner Straße. Here a car burned in the engine area and the flames spread to another parked vehicle. Both vehicles were completely destroyed. The exact cause of the fire is currently unclear and the investigation into the clarification of possible connections of the fires is already underway. Witnesses are asked to report to the Salzlandkreis police on 03471-3790.

Investigations and causes of fire

The unclear cause of the fire raises questions and leads to speculation as to whether a “fire devil” could possibly be at work. The investigators of the Salzlandkreis are required to clarify the background of the incidents. In particular, the accumulation of the fires at one morning gives rise to concern. This could not only indicate human failure or technical defects, but also to potential arson.

A more comprehensive look at the causes of fire is also of interest in the context of global fire statistics. The Center for Fire Statistics of the CTIF Prevents reports on fire causes and developments in fire protection. In the current report No. 28, the situation is analyzed in 66 countries and provides insights into urban fire risks.

global perspective

The project "100 Cities - 100 Years" shows how fire risks have developed over the last century. Political, cultural and technical events are particularly crucial for fire protection in urban centers. The report illuminates, among other things, the number of fires, number of victims and international risk trends.

The data collected from these statistics can help to make future fire protection measures more effective and at the same time respond to regional peculiarities, such as the latest incidents in Bernburg. The political decision -makers will be under pressure in the coming weeks and months to take preventive measures and to advance the ongoing investigations.
