Green oases in Berlin's schools: Where nature blooms and thrives!

On April 23, 2025, a markstone will be set in the southwest palace: a farewell and a thank you. The region takes this event as an opportunity to honor the valuable work of the Evangelical School Foundation. This foundation has done valuable educational work in various locations in recent years.

The foundation runs five schools in Berlin, which are outstanding in its diversity and the specific requirements for care and maintenance. The Evangelical schools in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, Steglitz, Lichtenberg, Frohnau and Neukölln form the backbone of the foundation.

diverse care tasks

The schools are faced with various requirements when it comes to maintaining the often large green areas. So we find the following area offer at the Evangelical School Foundation:

  • Evangelische Gymnasium "Zum Grauen Kloster"
    Salzbrunner Straße 41-47, 14193 Berlin-Wilmersdorf
-1,300 sqm wooden and hedge areas (partly with perennial under plantation)
    -lawn
    -5.260 sqm attached surfaces
  • Evangelische School Steglitz
    Beymestraße 6-7, 12167 Berlin-Steglitz
    - 1,700 sqm lawn and gravel lawn surfaces
    - approx. 1,000 sqm wooden and hedge surfaces (partly with perennial sub-planting)
    - 2,400 sqm extensive or playing surfaces < /> - 4,700 sqm attached surfaces
  • Evangelical School Lichtenberg
    Rummelsburger Straße 310-315, 10315 Berlin-Lichtenberg
-1,385 sqm wooden and hedge areas
    -play areas
    -5.185 sqm attached surfaces
  • Evangelische School Frohnau
    Benediktinnerstraße 11-19, Sigismundkorso 9-14, 13465 Berlin-Frohnau
-1,550 sqm wooden and hedge areas
    -2,900 sqm lawn
-1,700 sqm extensively or special surfaces
    - 4,500 sqm attached surfaces
  • Evangelische School Neukölln
    Mainzer Straße 47, 12053 Berlin-Neukölln
    - approx. 400 sqm wooden and hedge surfaces
    - 850 sqm extensively to be cared for
    - 3,400 sqm attached surfaces

Tree care is another central aspect of care work that the Evangelical School Foundation has been taking over for all of these schools since January 2006. This many years of experience has proven to be particularly valuable to meet the specific needs of every school.

appreciation of commitment and commitment

The upcoming farewell not only perceives the municipality as a goodbye, but also as an expression of thanks for the continuous hard work that has been invested since 2006. Rheinpfalz reports that benefit to school every day.

Long-term care and maintaining the garden and green areas are a central part of school philosophy, and the foundation understood to integrate these aspects into the everyday life of the students sustainably. The commitment is not only crucial for the beauty of the school premises, but also for the well -being of the students.

In the anticipation of the farewell, many can look back on a past that leaves valuable memories and learning experiences. This ends a chapter, but the positive influence of the schools will continue to exist in the next few years, especially since they will also be used for other pedagogical purposes in the future.
