On Thursday, August 7, 2025, a tragic traffic accident on the busy A5 motorway caused a stir and a complete closure for hours. According to fr.de, the accident occurred between the Zwingenberg and Bensheim junctions in the Bergstrasse district, southern Hesse. A 59-year-old man from the Bergstrasse district lost control of his vehicle, veered off the road to the right and crashed into the guardrail several times.
As a result, there was a collision with another vehicle, which also left the road and came to a stop outside. Unfortunately, the 59-year-old died from his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. Immediate rescue measures were initiated by several emergency services from the Bergstrasse district and a rescue helicopter, but all efforts could not save him. The police provided several patrol cars from the South Hesse Motorway Police to secure and investigate the circumstances of the accident and also called in an expert to clarify the incident.
