Safety situation in road traffic

Unfortunately, such accidents are not isolated cases. In the European Union, thousands of people die in traffic accidents every year, with alcohol being a common cause of accidents. According to a recent report, around 25 percent of all road deaths in the EU are due to the influence of alcohol. The problem must also be taken seriously in Germany. Another project, launched by the Federal Highway Research Institute, examines driving behavior under the influence of alcohol in 14 EU countries, including Germany. The survey examined 4,730 data sets, with 86.5 percent of car drivers stating that they had not consumed any alcohol before driving Bast.

Statistics also show that the number of road deaths in Europe was reduced by 36 percent between 2010 and 2020, but the risk of alcohol on the road is still present. While Sweden boasts the safest roads, Romania has the highest rates of road fatalities. The EU average is 42 road deaths per 1 million inhabitants. It becomes clear that young drivers and men in particular are often involved in alcohol-related accidents, while older road users are disproportionately represented European Parliament informed.

The current incident on the A4 is another sad wake-up call to raise awareness of the dangers of drink driving. While road safety measures are continually being improved, the individual responsibility of each driver remains essential. The drunk driver's license was immediately confiscated due to his grossly negligent act and criminal proceedings were initiated.
