Jens Lehmann's new exhibition: Art that challenges space and perception!
On October 28, 2025, an exciting exhibition will open in Frankfurt that explores the deep connections between art and perception. The Frankfurt artist Jens Lehmann shows his latest works under the title “Jens Lehmann – Confessions to l’art pour l’art and zeitgeist”. The event starts at 7 p.m. and is open to all art enthusiasts until November 29th. Entry is free, which increases the chance of experiencing a good piece of contemporary art.
Lehmann, known for his innovative technique of reverse glass painting, began his artistic career at renowned institutions such as the Städelschule under the teachers Per Kirkeby and Georg Herold. In his current work he plays with different glass objects that are painted with oil paint and take on fascinating, sometimes translucent shapes. These works are not only artistic objects, but also invite the viewer to question the perception of space and light in a new way. The Heusenstamm Foundation, which works with Lehmann, describes his technique as a shift between the front and back of the image. This creates a dialogue between what is seen and what remains hidden.
Creative events in Frankfurt
Several events are planned to accompany the exhibition. On November 1st there will be a bar evening from 6 p.m., which will certainly be a sociable meeting place for art lovers. For those who would like to delve even deeper into Lehmann's art, there will be an "Eat'n'Talk" on November 14th at 6 p.m., where visitors will not only have the opportunity to discuss the works of art, but also to become culinary active themselves.
Lehmann's artworks encourage you to reflect on social contexts and challenge your own perception. In a world in which the way we see art, space and our surroundings often remains unconscious, Lehmann's work provides new impulses. He connects viewers with his objects in a way that intensifies the dialogue between the artistic creation and the viewer.
The term art
The term “art,” which characterizes Jens Lehmann’s work, has deeper historical and linguistic roots. According to Wiktionary, the word comes from Middle Low German and means “knowledge, ability”. This connection highlights that every artistic activity requires in-depth knowledge and a trained eye for detail. The origin of the term in Proto-Germanic points to a long tradition of artistic creation, which also comes to life in Lehmann's modern works.
With his new exhibition, Jens Lehmann not only brings a breath of fresh air into the Frankfurt art scene, but also reminds us of how important it is to question and adapt one's own perception of issues of art and space. So it's definitely worth a visit to get inspired and perhaps further develop your own understanding of art.
