Danger! Phishing warning: fraudulent visa website revealed!

Landkreis Gießen, Deutschland - The police in the Gießen district raises the alarm: A new phishing mesh aims at travelers who need an “Electronic Travel Authorization” (ETA) for entry to Great Britain. A 42-year-old woman fell into a deceptively real, fraudulent website and paid $ 99 for a supposed tourist visa. The confirmation she then received looked strange, so that she blocked her credit card and finally discovered that the site was a phishings side. She then filed a complaint.

The police urgently warns against relying on unofficial websites. Official information and applications for the ETA can only be found on the British government side with the ending .gov.uk. The reputable application only costs 16 British pounds (just under 20 euros) and will be edited in three days. Experts advise to avoid payments to private providers and to be suspicious of promises such as "fast visa". If fraud was suspected, the police are the first point of contact for those affected.
