Busecker Pflegerheld receives Federal Cross of Merit for his commitment

In a warm ceremony, Rüdiger Müller from Großen-Buseck was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit excellent. District Administrator Anita Schneider presented him with the honor in a small circle, which is entirely in the spirit of the modest man who doesn't like big celebrations. For over 33 years, Müller has been dedicated to helping his paraplegic wife Lieselotte, who has been dependent on constant help since a serious car accident in 1992.

Even before he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, Müller was honored with the Nursing Medal of the State of Hesse in 2022. This award resulted from a suggestion from his brother and ultimately led to the examination for the Federal Cross of Merit. His daughter and two grandchildren were present at the award ceremony and were happy about the recognition of the voluntary work that Müller does every day.

An extraordinary life achievement

Müller's life is characterized by challenges and tireless commitment. In addition to caring for his wife, he also looked after his two daughters and his parents who were in need of care. Even a cancer diagnosis five years ago couldn't discourage him - he never gave up. In her speech, District Administrator Schneider praised his commitment and the immense importance that the recognition of care work in the home sector has.

The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany is awarded to honor outstanding contributions to the common good. This is the highest recognition of its kind in Germany, which is awarded for special achievements in the social and charitable areas, but also for political and economic merits.

An exceptional example of nursing work

Since its inception, the Order of Merit has been awarded over 264,620 times, with Müller now joining a select group of individuals to have received the award. The award is presented in eight levels, starting with the Medal of Merit. But the way there is not easy for many. Müller is an example of many people who quietly achieve great things without seeking much attention.

Overall, Rüdiger Müller's award shows that commitment, love and dedication in nursing work should be valued and recognized. Society can only benefit if awareness of such services is increased.
