Liebig's Soup Festival: Enjoy international delicacies in Gießen!
The Liebigs Soup Festival in Giessen is just around the corner and promises to be a real treat for all gourmets and soup lovers. Next Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, the Marktlauben and Lindenplatz in Giessen city center will open their doors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Here, 13 clubs and initiatives from Giessen and the region present their best soups, including international specialties and their own creative creations. As the Giessen General reports, you can look forward to a tasty variety!
The participants are a colorful mix of local groups, including the StadtLandfrauen Gießen, the Soroptimist International Club Gießen and the Lions Gießen support association. The “Netz Bangladesh” and “Kada the Food” initiatives have been newly added. This mixture promises a culinary journey around the world, with influences from Hessian, Ukrainian, Bangladeshi, Moroccan, Ethiopian and Indian cuisines.
Colorful supporting program for young and old
But the festival doesn't just offer a fantastic variety of soups. The supporting program provides additional entertainment! The musical start will be provided by an event duo who will perform live from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. From 12.30 p.m. it continues with exciting chemistry experiments at the Liebig Museum, before the Giessen band “The Muskmelons” will delight the audience with indie rock from 1:20 p.m.
Another highlight is the competition for the most beautiful soup cook stand, in which the audience can vote. You can also actively participate in the raffle for non-cash prizes – a real treat for all participants! The leisure-Central Hesse highlights that numerous restaurateurs from the city center will also present their best creations, with classic as well as vegetarian and vegan soups.
A feast for all senses
The atmosphere of the Liebigs Suppenfest will be relaxed and inviting, ideal for those who would like to linger and socialize with other foodies. Selected wines are also offered as an accompaniment to perfectly round off the delicious variety of soups.
