MAGIC Gießen: Artificial intelligence and 3D printing are shaping the future!
Something is happening in Gießen - the Makerspace Gießen, also known as MAGIE, has been a place that combines creativity and technology for more than five years. Located at Walltorstrasse 57, it offers an open workshop that focuses in particular on future technologies such as 3D printing, microelectronics and artificial intelligence. Here, founders can create prototypes, students can realize their projects and schoolchildren can take their first steps in electronics. The space promotes experiential learning and innovation, which are essential to modern everyday life. As lkgi.de reports, the makerspace attracts both companies and institutions that acquire valuable knowledge and test new technologies here.
The MAGIE collective consists of the Gießen Technology and Innovation Center, the Justus Liebig University, the Technical University of Central Hesse and the creative office flux-werk gGmbH. Together they design working and learning environments that not only offer a place for creativity, but also serve as a catalyst for social discussions about new technologies. Lecture evenings and information events bring together regional and national knowledge. All of this underlines the variety of offerings, from interactive exhibits to classic 3D prints and prototypes on display in the space.
Promotion and networking
Since 2022, the Gießen district has played a key role as a model region for the digital future in Germany. District Administrator Anita Schneider recently presented a grant that supports the makerspace with 25,000 euros, of which 5,000 euros comes from the federal government's Smart Region funding. This shows that the Giessen district not only acts as a sponsor, but is also actively involved in the makerspace network. tig-gmbh.de emphasizes that the district also offers training and advice to spread the knowledge and application of new technologies in the community.
The events offered at MAGIE target topics such as 3D printing and virtual reality. It's not just students and founders who get their money's worth - companies that are interested in new technologies will find an equally valuable contact point here. The combination of practical workshops and informative lectures ensures that participants can learn from each other and network in an innovative environment.
A place full of possibilities
MAGIE is more than just a workshop – it is a center for innovation and collaboration. The open experimental environment and the free workshops are an invitation to everyone who is curious about the world of future technologies. From laser cutters to microcontrollers to smart sensors, everything is available to let your creativity run wild. The network also brings new formats into play that make it possible to bring together those interested in starting a business, young entrepreneurs and research institutions. Here we not only work, but also exchange ideas and research.
Whether for students, founders or technology-loving students – the Makerspace Giessen is a true hotspot for creative minds. Further information is available on the project websites smart.lkgi.de and makerspace-giessen.de.
