With the courage to change: Lüneburg men defeat violence!

In Lüneburg, the anti-violence training of the “drobs” specialist center for addiction and addiction prevention has provided new impetus. The aim of the training is to offer appropriate assistance to men who want to get their violent behavior towards their partners or children under control. Over a period of 26 weeks, six to eight participants meet weekly to work together on their challenges. Again Giessener Anzeiger reports, the group is led by the experienced social worker Imke Peters and Albrecht von Bülow.

One thing is clear: the participants come from different social classes and age groups, which further enriches the program. The topics range from communication patterns and role models to stress management and crime reconstruction. Alternative courses of action are developed here that are intended to take effect in violent situations. The feedback from participants is consistently positive, with many reporting noticeable changes in their behavior and a better relationship with their children.

Comprehensive training program for more responsibility

The concept of anti-violence training is complex and places emphasis on participants taking responsibility for their violent behavior. It's not just about understanding the causes, but also about developing concrete action strategies to resolve violent conflicts non-violently. The training content includes, among other things, crime reconstruction, biographical work, de-escalation and the development of emergency plans. Loud Growing together No judgment is made about the person, but a clear separation is made between person and behavior.

What is particularly noteworthy is the appreciative atmosphere offered to participants: the approach promotes open communication and learning in a respectful environment. The participants are given space to reflect on their own experiences and develop solutions. Supportive offers such as coaching for stabilization in the event of domestic violence complement the training and offer long-term support. A large number of men have already been heard and helped as part of these measures.

A step towards change

The implementation of anti-violence training at eleven locations, supported with 29,000 euros annually from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, shows how important such programs are. Restart notes that here too the focus is on probation assistance and the prevention of relapses into violent behavior patterns, which underlines its importance in society. Prevention work is more in demand in our schools and youth facilities than ever, because knowledge of de-escalation methods and non-violent conflict resolution opens up new opportunities for a more peaceful society.

Overall, it shows that anti-violence training not only makes a concrete contribution to violence prevention, but also paves the way for men to live respectfully together. In the long term, this could not only strengthen family structures, but also initiate lasting changes in society. This makes it clear: a successful path to violence prevention is not only possible, it is within our grasp.
