Enjoy sustainable: Gießen event on fair nutritional systems!
Ludwigstraße 23, 35390 Gießen, Deutschland - On May 14, 2025, the Justus Liebig University Gießen will host the host of the event "sustainably enjoy: local approaches for a sustainable diet". The event begins at 3 p.m. and takes place in the foyer and the auditorium of the main building of the university at Ludwigstrasse 23. The aim of the event is to discuss future -proof, socially just and ecologically viable nutritional systems and thus make a contribution to the search for innovative solutions in sustainable nutrition. Uni Gießen reports that this event is organized in cooperation between the Center for Sustainable Nutritional Systems (ZNE) and the office for sustainability (BFN).
A highlight of the event will be the “market of possibilities”, in which local clubs and initiatives are presented. Participants include Inge e.V., Foodsharing Gießen, the JLU campus garden and the Hessen Consumer Center. The greeting takes place by Prof. Dr. Ramona Teuber from the Zne and Dr. Alexandra Junge from Bfn.
expert lectures and interactive discussions
The agenda of the event also includes several lectures by experts in the field of sustainable nutrition. So Prof. Dr. Andreas Gattinger talk about ecological farming and sustainable food production. Prof. Dr. Stefan Wahlen addresses the limits and opportunities of sustainable diets, while Prof. Dr. Sandra Schwindenhammer discussed socio -political dynamics and civil society actors as part of the "Suskult" project. In addition, Dr. Christina Weber present the Coordination Center Food Entrepreneurship & Start-Ups (Fesu) and address the promotion of founders.
With a reference to social innovations in the nutritional economy, Prof. Dr. Christian Herzig give interesting insights, while Phillip Kaapke presented practical approaches to implement sustainable start -up ideas. A special format of the event is the Fishbowl discussion, which enables the audience to actively participate in the conversations.

Registration for the event is possible by May 13, 2025 on the website. Short -term registrations are also possible on the event day at the JLU reception. Admission to the event is free of charge, which makes participation accessible to the general public.
The event is part of a comprehensive commitment to sustainable agriculture and nutrition. According to a report by the Federal Government, the strategy on sustainable agriculture aims to preserve the diversity of agriculture and at the same time take ecological, economic and social aspects into account.
