Grief in Heuchelheim: Fasching failed in 2025 for the president's death!
The carnival campaign 2025 in the Heuchelheim Carnevalverein (HCV) was surprisingly demolished due to a tragic event. The President of the Association, Ulrich Jung, died on February 25, 2025, which the carnivalists shook deeply in the region. The HCV announced that the campaign will be immediately ended out of respect for the deceased and its relatives. This year the popular carnival parade in Heuchelheim, one of the largest in the region, does not take place.
This also affects other planned events. Furthermore, the Rose Monday meeting and the large move on the carnival day were canceled. Co-President Markus Ferbeit said that there was no alternative to cancel, despite controversial discussions on social media. After the loss, the activists of the HCV do not feel able to carry out the traditional carnival program, whereby 20 cars were prepared for the move.
concern in the municipality
The death of Ulrich Jung occurred in the High phase of the Shrovetide and leaves a large gap in club life. Mayor Lars Burkhard Steinz expressed his regret about the loss and confirmed the decision of the HCV to deny all events. Jung was not only active as president, but also a popular personality in the organization of carnival events.
In addition, participation in parades in Wetzlar and Gießen were canceled. In a separate incident, the carnival parade in Marburg also had to be canceled due to financial difficulties, which caused further disappointment in the region. Preparations for various events, including the children's carnival and the large splendor meeting, were already underway.
cultural importance of the carnival
carnival, also known as Fastelovend or Carnival, has a long tradition in Germany and reflects a variety of aspects of regional culture. The carnival has deep roots, particularly in Catholic dominated areas such as Hesse, which go back to ancient festivities. In the carnival season, cities are transformed into mainlands in the color of the main landscapes, in which cladding, songs and cheerful celebrations are central elements of the event.
During the carnival season, “Jecken” flock to the streets to take part in parades and festivities. Creative costumes and elaborate motif cars that often address political and social issues are particularly noteworthy. The event in Cologne, a stronghold of the Rhenish Carnival, attracts up to 1 million spectators and is considered one of the largest events of this kind in Germany. The colorful festivals serve not only the entertainment, but also the customs that promote traditions and sense of community.
