Hesse Champions 2025: Strong trio shapes the future of the state!
On October 28th, the “Hesse Champions 2025” award was announced as part of the 33rd Hessian Entrepreneur Day in Wiesbaden. Three companies were honored for their outstanding achievements. Weber Food Technology SE & Co. KG from Breidenbach enjoys great recognition in the “World Market Leaders & Hidden Champions” category. The company specializes in the precise cutting and packaging of sausages, meat and cheese and holds a leading position in the automation and packaging of fresh products. With around 2,100 employees at 27 locations in 22 countries, Weber impressively shows how to operate successfully on the international market. This is reported by the Hessian State Chancellery.
Glinicke Automobil Holding GmbH & Co. KG, another award winner, received the title “Employer of the Year”. Founded in 1930, the family-run company is one of the most important automobile trading groups in Germany, with 34 locations in Hesse, Thuringia, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia and a total of 2,200 employees. This makes it clear how important family-run companies are for the Hessian economy.
Innovations in Hesse
Focused Energy GmbH from Darmstadt was honored in the “Innovation” category. She is at the forefront of the development of Laser-Driven Radiation Sources (LDRS), which offer great market potential. These technologies allow the non-destructive analysis of large objects and position the company as a pioneer in a promising field. Economics Minister Kaweh Mansoori emphasizes the relevance of these companies for the strengthening and future viability of the state of Hesse.
Hesse's economy in detail
Hesse is the fifth largest federal state in Germany by population and plays a significant role in the German economy. In the automotive industry, which is considered the largest industrial sector in Hesse, around 41,700 people were employed in September 2024, which means a decline of 3.8% compared to the previous year. Despite this decline, the industry's turnover increased to 1.6 billion euros in the same month, although in nominal terms this represents a decrease of 8.7% compared to the previous year. The Hessian automotive industry is facing challenges, but at the same time is showing signs of stability and optimism for the future, such as Hessian statistics reported.
The automotive sector is not only important for employment, but also contributes significantly to the country's gross domestic product. In 2023, the automotive industry in Hesse achieved total sales of 21 billion euros, which corresponds to 16% of the total sales of the manufacturing sector in the state. At the same time, the industry is showing trends towards innovation, particularly in the area of electric cars, where the number of exported vehicles is steadily increasing while imports are growing rapidly.
The situation at hand requires a good hand and strategic decisions. Hesse, characterized by its forests and low mountain ranges, not only has a lot to offer, but is also a place where companies can realize their visions and innovations. In times of change, these awards are a ray of hope and show how stability and change can go hand in hand.
