Opening of the monochrome landscape photography by Michael Jaeschke!

Next week an exciting exhibition will open its doors in the Kassel district: “Landscape Monochrome – Photographs by Michael Jaeschke”. The ceremonial opening will take place on Thursday, July 10th, at 6 p.m. in the Kassel district hall. On this occasion, the photographer himself gives an introduction to his works, which is accompanied by a musical backdrop of Scandinavian folk. Jaeschke, who has been working with a camera since he was a teenager, only found his true passion when he returned to black and white photography, after it temporarily disappeared from his field of vision due to digital photography. He found inspiration in the impressive Nordic landscapes.

The monochrome imagery that Jaeschke uses highlights the shapes, lines and structures of his photographs. “Painting with light” is how he describes taking photographs and emphasizes the importance of the perfect moment. He particularly enjoys mountain landscapes, such as the Dolomites, and is willing to wait for hours for the light to be just right. A picturesque example of this is the improvement of the capture moment that he captures in his pictures, as well as the aesthetics that arise from the absence of colors. This art form makes it possible to view the beauty of nature through a new lens and capture inklings of the mood and character of a place, as [Photoscala](https://www.photoscala.de/2025/03/08/landschaft-monochrom-in-der-katholischen-akademie- Stapelfeld/) describes.

The exhibition in detail

The exhibition will be open to the public until August 19, 2025, from Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the foyer of the Kassel district building. However, anyone who would like to take part in the opening must register. Those interested can do so via the district's website to secure a spot.

The relevance of landscape photography is becoming ever more current, and Jaeschke's conceptual approach is reflected not only in his own art, but also in workshops aimed at minimalist black and white photography. An example of this is a workshop on the Baltic Sea that focuses on long exposures. Techniques for perfect use of light and choosing the right, minimalist perspective are taught - aspects that are also important in Jaeschke's work and his photographs, as the Fotoakademie Dresden highlights.

Visitors to the exhibition “Landscape Monochrome – Photographs by Michael Jaeschke” can look forward to an impressive journey into the monochrome world of photography. Not only will you experience the fascination of nature in black and white, but you will also gain deeper insights into the creative process of the photographer himself.

If you have the opportunity, you shouldn't miss this cultural highlight in the Kassel district!
