A festival with tradition
The Ziegenhain salad fair is not only a dazzling folk festival, but also has a long history that goes back to 1728. At that time, Landgrave Karl of Hesse-Kassel invited farmers to a meal to convince them to grow potatoes. The great popularity of the salad led to the naming of the salad fair. Today the event is one of the oldest folk festivals in northern Hesse and attracts many guests from the region.
