Visit the fascinating daycare center Bunte 11” on Architecture Day!
There is currently a lot of activity in the architecture scene: next weekend on June 29th and 30th, 2025 Architecture Day which has been organized by the Hesse Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners for 30 years. Under the motto “Build diversity”, visitors have the opportunity to discover over 1,000 interesting construction projects. The focus is on the connection between good architecture and social and ecological challenges.
Those interested can look forward to some remarkable objects, especially in the Wetterau district. A facility chosen by the Hesse Chamber of Architects as a showpiece is the “Bunte 11” daycare center in Ossenheim. This daycare center is presented by the architectural group Müller & Kölsch, which also shows a converted residential building on Bachseifenweg. The daycare center impresses with its inviting play hallway, which was designed as a “prepared environment” for children, and creates a creative atmosphere with colorful walls, niches and entertaining play corners.
Insights into modern architecture
The tour of the “Bunte 11” daycare center and the transparent house without walls is particularly exciting for those interested in building. These two objects are part of a selection of 77 buildings that were picked out by a jury from over 2,000 submitted projects. The daycare center and the residential building can only be viewed from the outside on Saturday and Sunday. For the tours, you must register in advance at post@mueller-koelsch.de, which will particularly appeal to those interested in building.
In addition to these two properties, visitors to the Wetterau district can view six apartment buildings on Carl-Benz-Allee in Bad Vilbel. These various projects complement the theme of Architecture Day, which revolves around the quality of the built environment and the relevance of good planning. Andrea Gebhard, President of the Federal Chamber of Architects, emphasizes how important such communication platforms are for social dialogue.
Sustainability in focus
A crucial issue in today's architecture is sustainability. The construction sector has a high energy requirement and contributes massively to waste generation, which is repeatedly discussed in discussions such as the third symposium on the “Metabolism of Building”. Experts like Dirk Hebel advocate a rethink in building culture towards hybrid construction methods that take both new and existing buildings into account and focus on the reusability of building materials. Concepts such as “urban mining” make it clear that cities can also function as raw material depots.
For everyone who has a feel for modern architecture and sustainable construction methods, events such as Architecture Day and the topics of current architectural discussions offer a valuable opportunity for inspiration and exchange. Anyone who is interested should not hesitate to take advantage of the exciting offers relating to building culture and planning in the region - the future of building is in full swing here!
