Friedberg gets a new meeting place for citizens with KreativHaus!

Something is happening in Friedberg! The “dasgute.Haus” cooperative has taken over the management of the KreativHaus and is bringing a breath of fresh air to the city center. Managing Directors Stefanie Santina Krause and Dr. Agnes Model set to work with clear goals: to revitalize the city center, bring people together and try out new event formats. This was done by the FNP reported. The cooperative has a five-year success story that began in Butzbach and now has 210 members and 250 regular users.

The KreativHaus is intended to function as a “public living room”. It offers flexible usage options and invites all citizens to become active. Funding comes from memberships, grants, donations and partnerships with companies. Commercial users pay room usage fees, while clubs and initiatives can use the rooms free of charge. A particularly interesting motto for the events is “Pay what it’s worth to you” – an approach that will appeal to many.

A place for meeting and exchange

For the people of Freiburg, the KreativHaus plays a central role in social urban development. A study by the vhw – Federal Association for Housing and Urban Development – shows how important meeting places are for the quality of life of a district. This idea is supported by the Meeting point community which emphasizes that lively neighborhoods and good coexistence in everyday life can only be promoted through regular opportunities for encounters.

The “dasgute.Haus” cooperative is taking on this challenge and plans to sign the cooperation agreement with the city of Friedberg at the beginning of July. The gradual opening will follow in August with various events such as consultation hours and a volunteer meeting. The highlight will be the grand opening ceremony at the end of September or beginning of October, when the KreativHaus will be put into regular operation.

A place for everyone

These days, such encounters are becoming increasingly important. Places such as neighborhood houses, family centers and multi-generational houses are crucial for promoting social interaction. “dasgute.Haus” sees itself as part of this tradition and has set itself the goal of actively shaping peaceful coexistence. Innovative formats and an open ear for the needs of neighbors could help to strengthen the social participation of all citizens and create positive contact opportunities.
