New hospice choir and board: Büdinger Land sets a strong tone!
The Büdinger Land Hospice Aid has been active recently and has come up with a lot of news. The organization, inspired by the values of Cicely Saunders, aims to provide respect and peace to people until the last second of their lives. Valuable support is offered here, especially for seriously ill and dying people and their relatives. In a recent report from the Frankfurter Neue Presse it becomes clear how important this work is.
The choice of Dr. is particularly pleasing. Ute Beckmann as deputy chairwoman. Beckmann, who has been volunteering in end-of-life care for three years and runs an osteopathic practice, brings a breath of fresh air to the board team. The project of a newly founded hospice choir was also presented, with church musician Anne Schneider taking over the direction. However, a rehearsal location has not yet been determined. Meanwhile, Prof. Udo Stern, the club chairman, thanked Willi Schierhorn for his many years of commitment to the club.
Grief management and support
Another highlight in the work of the hospice aid is the upcoming installation of a second mourning bench in the Büdinger cemetery. This initiative aims to give bereaved families a space for mourning and reflection. The volunteer-run bereavement café, which offers comfort and help to relatives, will also continue to be an important contact point. Last year, 68 seriously ill and dying people were supported by volunteers.
The commitment to training new volunteers is also impressive. Nine women and one man successfully completed a qualification course for end-of-life caregivers in 2024. Since there is great interest, a new course for 2026 is already being planned. To provide information, the association also donated free events on topics such as power of attorney and inheritance law to support relatives in difficult times.
A look at the hospice movement
The history of hospice work goes back to the 1960s and has also been established in Germany since the 1980s. Today, over 1,000 outpatient hospice services support people in the final phase of their lives, such as Diaconia explained. The focus is on alleviating physical suffering and providing emotional support for those affected and their families. There are currently 282 inpatient hospices for adults and children in use in Germany, which are heavily financed by health insurance benefits.
With its offering and the planned innovations, Hospice Aid Büdinger Land fills an important gap and offers loving support in times that are often characterized by uncertainty and sadness. It is hoped that the new initiatives, such as the hospice choir and the mourning bench, will help those affected and their relatives find the support they need. We would be happy to provide information on the website Hospice aid Büdinger Land about further developments and offers.
