Giant rubber duck race in Büdingen: fun for a good cause!

This year, the fifth Büdinger duck race on the Seemenbach attracts hundreds of watching parents, children and duck fans to the banks between Schlossmühle and Lohsteg. With around 1,000 squeaky ducks competing for victory, the organizers of the Büdingen Rotary Club are expecting a small celebration. The event will take place on June 16, 2025 and there is great interest, not least because the proceeds from the event will benefit schools, daycare centers and the fire department, such as FNP reported.

This year it will be particularly exciting for the sponsors of the ducks, who will compete in a prologue before the main race. These ducks start a little earlier and have the chance to win a challenge cup, which adds extra momentum to the competition. Participants can look forward to a more colorful picture as some of the ducks are creatively decorated and are sure to have a laugh on their side.

An eventful event for young and old

The water level on the Seemenbach is lower than usual, which means that the ducks float more slowly, but that doesn't reduce the tension. With his enthusiasm, commentator Markus Karger ensures that the mood remains high even during the main race, in which the ducks fall from a bag from the turntable ladder into the water. Spectators and participants get excited as the colorful ducks swim around.

The prize draw also promises an exciting conclusion: a total of 75 prizes will be awarded, including travel vouchers and a VIP card for Eintracht Frankfurt. This year, the special prize for the most imaginative duck goes to Paulina Stepien, who impressed the judges with her “Frog Prince”. There is also a consolation prize for the lamest duck: a season ticket for the outdoor pool and a swimming course.

A community project that does good

One of the special attractions of the race is the school class classification. Here, class 3d from the Büdinger city school is ahead and wins a large rubber duck that can stay in the classroom for a year. These initiatives are part of the Rotary Club Büdingen's social commitment, which is characterized by many similar events. On their website In addition to further information, the club also offers the opportunity to make contact.

The Büdinger duck race is not only a fun event for the whole family, but also an important contribution to promoting common good and social cohesion. Events of this kind have established themselves as an integral part of regional cultural life, as other clubs, such as the RC Tegernsee with their tradition around duck racing, demonstrate.

The duck race promises to be a wonderful and exciting event that strengthens the community and at the same time supports projects that benefit local people. Professionally accompanied by the organizers Daniel Giesbrecht and Jannik Völker from the Büdinger fire department, the race will certainly run smoothly.
