Rural Women's Summer Festival: New momentum and donations for the future!
On August 17, 2025 it was again “Welcome to the Summer Festival!” with the rural women in Rockenberg. Under the direction of chairwoman Gudrun Bischoff, the festival took place on the Antony family farm in Kirchgasse. A highlight of the event was the presentation of two donations of 400 euros each. The recipients were the “Junge Pflege” initiative from Wetzlar and the Teilhabe Wetterau, a special form of living in Butzbach. This support shows once again how committed the rural women are in their region.
The summer festival not only offered participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, but also a look back at the club's diverse activities. These include, among other things, the popular asparagus dinner followed by an evening walk to the Zur Wetterau inn in Oppershofen and the active help at the Hessentag in Bad Vilbel, where the motto “Nature on the Trail” was a big deal. The rural women also enrich the holiday games in Rockenberg with their cooking skills.
Popular activities and future plans
A popular monthly event that regularly brings members together is the “Ladies Walk,” which takes place on the first Wednesday of every month. When organizing the fair, the rural women also do their part to ensure that traditions are preserved. The musical accompaniment during the festival was provided by the guitar group “Die Schrammler”, which contributed to the sociable atmosphere.
For Gudrun Bischoff, however, the summer festival had a bittersweet aftertaste: it was her last festival in her role as chairwoman. She has achieved a tremendous amount in recent years and will certainly leave a gap.
New blood and a breath of fresh air
A positive sign for the future of the rural women's association: A total of 18 young women have registered and are bringing a breath of fresh air into the traditional community. With these new members, the future of the club will be secured and at the same time the connection to the next generation will be strengthened.
While there is celebration in Rockenberg, there is also news from the international football sphere. The Colombia women's national team has chosen the venue for its first game in the Conmebol Liga de Naciones. On October 24th, the team will play against Peru at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellín, as the originally planned stadium in Cali is unavailable due to a concert by Shakira on the same day. The Liga de Naciones represents an important qualifying tournament for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil, which makes the competition even more exciting.
Fans are warmly invited to support their national team - a good reason to sit down in front of the TV with friends or family!
Whether in Rockenberg or on the international football field, it remains exciting to see what the future will bring.
