From August 7th to 10th, 2025, 150 riders will cycle through Wetterau for the “Tour of Hope” to collect donations for children with cancer.

Sport and solidarity – this is what the “Tour of Hope” brings togetherAugust 7th to 10th, 2025rolls through Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. The prominent bike tour, which is already taking place this year42nd timeThe aim is to collect donations for children with cancer and their families as well as for cancer research. More than150 driverswill take part in the fundraiser and pedal hard to make a contribution.
The first stage takes the cyclists from the Gießen municipal utilities to the pediatric oncology department at the Gießen-Marburg University Hospital (UKGM). With a historical background that goes back to a bike tour to Hamburg, the “Tour of Hope” was brought to life by the committed Fritz Lampert. On the individual days there are distances of a total ofapprox. 240 kilometersplanned, with the participants traveling through different regions of Germany and serving a good cause.
Stages and stops
On Friday, theAugust 8th, is a challenging route85 kilometersthrough the Wetterau on the program, with planned stops in Friedberg and Butzbach. Saturday takes the group from Weiterstadt via Darmstadt and Bensheim to Ludwigshafen-Oggersheim. The entire tour promises not only sporting challenges, but also an opportunity to interact with the community and raise public awareness of the cause.
The “Tour of Hope” was already impressive last year1.32 million eurosdonations were collected that benefited 25 children's hospitals and other facilities in Germany. Thanks to the support of sponsors, all costs of the tour are covered, so that 100% of the donations go to the beneficiaries. A further incentive for the participants are the prominent supporters such as Stephan Leyhe, Markus Merk, Yemisi Magdalena Ogunleye and Johann von Bülow.
Part of the big initiatives
But the “Tour of Hope” is not the only commitment to children with cancer in Germany. Also the organization BASKETBALL AID relies on solidarity and support for children's cancer wards and support associations. They host charity events and offer training camps to make a contribution through sport. Patron Patrick Femerling has been mobilizing since it was founded2007with passionate basketball players and fans for a good cause. The idea of combining sport and charity has proven successful and could create similar synergies as the “Tour of Hope”.
