Corpus Christi: Experience the festive service and procession in Wiesbaden!
There is hardly a more beautiful interplay of faith and community than Corpus Christi, which will be celebrated in Wiesbaden on June 19, 2025. An important holiday for the Catholic community, which is considered a day off in Hesse and invites many people to take part in the festive services and processions. The first related events will take place on June 18, 2025.
At St. Boniface there will be a solemn high mass on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. on the Palace Square, which will end with an impressive procession to St. Boniface. Afterwards, visitors can look forward to a convivial parish festival. The Croatian Catholic parish of St. Anthony and the Polish Catholic parish of “Mother of God of Częstochowa” will also take part in the joint celebration at 10:00 a.m.
A colorful series of events
The festivities on Corpus Christi are not limited to the church service. On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, several communities are inviting people to the evening mass. For example, St. Peter and Paul in Schierstein and St. Josef in Dotzheim, each at 6:00 p.m., even without a procession. At 11:00 a.m. on the holiday, Holy Masses with a procession will take place in Sacred Heart in Sonnenberg and in Mary Assumption in Erbenheim, with the Jubilate Choir providing musical accompaniment.
Another highlight is on the program for June 26, 2025: the summer festival in the courtyard of St. Elisabeth, from 3:00 p.m. Here we sing, tell stories and grill together - a perfect opportunity to bring the community closer together and leave the everyday service routine behind for an afternoon. It is possible to register in the central parish office until June 20, 2025.
A worthy anniversary
Speaking of St. Boniface: The church not only celebrates Corpus Christi, but also a special anniversary. The main portal of the Bonifatiuskirche will be ceremoniously reopened to mark the church's 175th anniversary. One more reason to make this day a communal and spiritual event.
Corpus Christi is not only a celebration of faith, but also offers a view beyond the regions. While shops are closed in Hesse, they are open in other federal states such as Bremen, Berlin and Hamburg. In some Nordic countries this holiday is not recognized at all. No matter how you feel about these differences, for the people of Wiesbaden, Corpus Christi is an annual highlight full of meaning and togetherness.
In Wiesbaden, where the Catholic tradition is deeply rooted, Christians of all backgrounds look forward to the festive days, which not only nourish the soul, but also promote warm togetherness. Corpus Christi will always remain a holiday that is understood by many as a loving reminder of faith and community.
