Police in constant operation: Crime rocked Wiesbaden at the weekend

Last weekend the Wiesbaden police had their hands full. From Friday evening to Sunday morning, law enforcement officers were on constant duty due to a number of incidents. The “Safe Wiesbaden” campaign had an impact, as comprehensive controls were carried out to ensure safety in the city and to convey a good feeling. BYC News reports.

There was a hit-and-run accident on Kasteler Straße on Saturday morning at 1:05 a.m. A gray VW Golf crashed into a black Mercedes, leaving two people with minor injuries. The driver of the fleeing car left the police in the dark and disappeared from the scene of the accident. The investigators are asking for information at 0611/345-2240.

Violent confrontations and robberies

The situation at the train station was also tense: at 1:10 a.m. the police had to intervene when a dispute between two men (28 and 35 years old) escalated. Both were under the influence of alcohol and suffered minor injuries, which led to the initiation of an investigation into bodily harm. Another incident occurred on the same evening at 9:05 p.m. when a 46-year-old man was seriously injured on the station forecourt. The perpetrator was an unknown man who brutally attacked him and knocked out two of his teeth. Here too, the authorities are asking for information on 0611/345-2140.

A serious robbery also occurred on Rheinstrasse on Saturday at 11:00 p.m. Three unknown perpetrators - two men and a woman - beat and kicked a 24-year-old victim and stole cash and his cell phone. The description of the perpetrators in the press: A woman in white clothing with black leggings, a man in all black and the third in a gray, short-sleeved shirt. The police are asking for information on 0611/345-0.

Resistance to the police and increasing presence

Another police operation was necessary on Sunday morning at 2:10 a.m. on Bahnhofstrasse when an 18-year-old showed aggressive behavior and slightly injured three officers. He was taken into custody but later released. Criminal proceedings were initiated here for resistance and physical assault. The police suspect that such incidents are related to a high level of deployment and the rapid response of the police. BYC News noted.

A look back shows how such attacks are unfortunately not new. On June 19th, a 29-year-old man from Munich fell victim to a robbery in front of a bar on Taunusstrasse. His argument with an unknown person escalated, which resulted in the perpetrator attacking him and injuring himself. Although he managed to escape, he later discovered that his wallet had been stolen. The Wiesbaden criminal police have also initiated an investigation in this case and are appealing for information. Wiesbaden Current reports.

Overall, the high number of incidents shows the population's need for security. The Wiesbaden police strive to create a safe environment through a visible presence and close cooperation with citizens and to respond quickly and effectively to such challenges. A good hand will probably continue to be necessary.
