Including mobility: Sulingen trains for self -determined travel!
The Verkehrsverbund Bremen/Lower Saxony (VBN) initiated mobility training in the Delme workshops in Sulingen in order to promote the integration of people with impairments into the first labor market. On Monday, around 30 employees took part in this special training, which was divided into three units: timetable and information, use of the VBN app and a practical bus ride from the Delme workshops to Sulinger ZOB and back. The VBN project coordinator Veronika Schlierf explains that such training has been offered for a long time, but were put together as a "special offer" at the request of the Delme workshops in 2024.
The training should make it easier for employees to use public transport. Andrea Waschko martens from the social service of the Delme workshops emphasizes the enormous importance of these qualification measures for the independence of the participants. Of a total of 150 employees in Sulingen, 30 took part in mobility training, with positive experiences from a first training session in 2024. Participants now use the bus for the way to work or internships, and if there are problems, such as delays, a telephone number is available for support.
New bus stop facilitates mobility
A new bus stop at Hasseler Weg, which has been in operation since November 2024, has made it much easier for employees to drive the bus. Lines 133 and 137 hold directly in front of the Delme workshops. The set -up of the stop was supported both by the Diepholz district and the VBN. The location team in Sulingen plans to continue to participate in mobility training in order to further promote the independence of the employees.
The initiative in Sulingen is part of a larger context that aims to participate equally and self -determined participation of people with disabilities in working life. According to the federal government, the shortage of skilled workers requires stronger support for people with disabilities in the labor market. Federal Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil emphasizes the high qualifications and motivation of these people, while at the same time there is a high level of unemployment among them. The planned law to promote an inclusive labor market aims to improve the integration of people with disabilities into the regular working world and to secure employment.
The measures include, among other things, that employers without severely disabilities have to pay a higher compensation tax, as well as the introduction of approval fictions to accelerate approval procedures. In addition, the limitation of the wage allowance is lifted at the budget for work, which represents a subsidy for wage costs for people with disabilities. These measures aim to bring more people with disabilities into regular work and to increase their opportunities on the labor market.
