Youth musicians: Talents shine in the competition in Neustadt!

The competition "Jugend musiciert", which took place in Neustadt on Sunday, January 26, 2025, attracted young talents from the entire region of Hanover and beyond the city's music school building. In this talent competition, numerous young musicians made themselves: inside the challenge of demonstrating their skills and presenting themselves to a expert jury. The event, which took place for the second time in Neustadt, was organized by the Musikschule Garbsen, which took over the majority of the organizational work and also contributed to the city marketing.

An outstanding participant was Jakob Herold from Kakenstorf, who scored the full score of 25 points at the age of 16. Jakob will now take part in the state competition in Oldenburg in March, where he has the chance to continue to profile himself. Jan Hasenbank, the music school director, said that ambition and self -confidence are important for many children, but are not suitable for every child. His assessment illustrates the different approaches of young musicians to the challenge.

In this competition, other talents were also able to shine. Sophia Athemeliotis, 11 years old from Lehrte, also appeared and was well prepared. Bernd Christian Schulze, a member of the jury, emphasized the success of all participants: "Everyone won by setting goals and developing." The event offers an excellent opportunity for the participants to grow musically and to get to know other music -loving children and young people.

There are a total of around 170 regional competitions "Jugend musiziert", which take place in around 135 regions of Germany and at over 35 German schools abroad. These competitions are aimed at everyone who wants to deal intensively with a musical program. The regional competitions are mainly organized and carried out by volunteers: inside, which underlines the high social relevance of the event series. The competitions usually take place in January and February and are open to various musical genres and instruments.

The best participants who were able to convince in the regional competition have the opportunity to take part in one of 19 state competitions in Germany, which usually also take place in March. Prize winners: Inside the state competitions often receive grants in state youth orchestras, state youth choirs and other sound bodies, which is an important support for the musical career of young talents.
