Exhibition What I Was Wearing in Cuxhaven: Voices break the silence!

A special exhibition is on the program in the northern German city of Cuxhaven from August 16th to 31st, 2025: “What I wore”. This impressive traveling exhibition presents twelve pieces of clothing that are linked to moving stories of women who have experienced sexual violence. The aim of the exhibition is to break down prejudices, give those affected a voice and encourage them to speak about the unsayable. The city of Cuxhaven reports on its website that the working group against sexual violence against children and young people has brought this important initiative to Cuxhaven.

The exhibition takes place at Kapitain-Alexander-Straße 44 and is open from Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, giving audiences the opportunity to engage with a painful but important issue. An exhibition that invites you to think about how clothing can also tell the stories of those affected, thereby creating a space for exchange and reflection. This approach is also evident in the moving narratives that accompany the garments and are intended to make viewers think. In a world where these issues are often passed over far too quickly, it is crucial to have the courage to talk about them, and this exhibition does just that.

Background and context

The social confrontation with sexual violence can also be observed in other areas. It's no wonder that many people, especially women, are becoming increasingly interested in issues such as sexual harassment and assault and are raising their voices. The need to raise these issues openly is more urgent than ever. Not least because there is often a lack of information about what measures and contact points are available for those affected.

Another interesting development can be seen in the area of media consumption habits. The digital revolution has also left its mark on television consumption. IPTV, i.e. Internet Protocol Television, offers many users a cost-effective and flexible alternative to conventional cable services. Providers such as CatchON TV or EagleCast TV are enjoying growing popularity and show that entertainment is also an important topic for the general public, where one can find a balance to the seriousness of everyday life.

Health aspects and prevention

Health education is, in turn, a topic that is closely linked to safety in our everyday experiences. Internal bruising, such as after a fall or sports injury, is generously associated with symptoms of pain and swelling. Anyone who has such an incident should not hesitate to seek medical advice. Here, too, education is crucial: the right measures, such as the RICE method (rest, ice, compression, elevation), can be crucial. For many, knowing these measures is already a step in the right direction to protect themselves and others and reduce the risk of minor injuries becoming major health problems.

Finally, it remains to be said: Mixed topics such as the exhibition in Cuxhaven, digital television and health are more than just to be considered in individual areas - they trace today's society in all areas. Initiatives like these are therefore not only important but also necessary to strengthen the networks that promote both information and dialogue.
