Class 2 of the Kulkwitz primary school has achieved an outstanding success and won the German championship in Schulschach in Willingen. The team, consisting of six talented students, remained unbeaten during the entire tournament and recorded an impressive record of eight wins and a draw in the "Everyone against everyone" mode. The championship took place in North Hesse last weekend, and the team secured the title from the ninth round, which underlines the dominance of their style of play. The children enjoyed intensive preparation, which was carried out in cooperation with the BSG Grün-Weiß Leipzig, under the direction of coach Sven Sorge.
The captain of the team, Mats Mâallem, and his classmates, Jaro Storl, Benjamin Schwara, Ben Pepe Ochotzki and Knud Linke, show that they are not only excellent chess players, but also have a remarkable team dynamics.
