Traffic accidents in Göttingen: decline in the injured, increase in e-scooters

Göttingen, Deutschland - The Göttingen police inspection presented the traffic accident statistics for 2024 and the results are mixed. A total of 7,949 traffic accidents were registered in the city and district of Göttingen, a slight decline compared to 8.101 in the previous year. The number of injured road users dropped to 1,188 by 168, including twelve traffic fatalities - a decline of three compared to 2023.

The increase in e-scooter accidents is particularly striking: 76 accidents were recorded, which is a significant increase. The police take measures to increase the safety in road traffic, in particular through increased controls of e-scooter travelers and the awareness of safe driving. While the total number of accidents has increased in the city, fortunately there were no traffic dead. In the district, on the other hand, the number of serious accidents is a worrying challenge, despite a decline in overall accidents.
