In the charming town of Lüneburg, a spectacular discovery is causing a stir. A nearly 500-year-old ceiling painting that was covered up during renovation work in the 1970s is now coming to light. Markus Tillwick, the responsible restorer, describes the ceiling painting as being of very good quality. Heike Dünelder, the director of the Lüneburg Museum, adds that Lüneburg's old town was spared from large-scale city fires and destruction during the world wars. The owner of the property, Ernst-Joachim Petersen, is excited about the restored work of art, which will soon be on display. After the restoration work is expected to be completed in about five weeks, the space will be converted into a bakery. To protect the painting from fumes, the planned scullery will receive extra protection.
