Red roses bloom again: modern setting and fresh cast from November!
The popular telenovela “Rote Rosen” is entering the next round! The 24th season of the series starts on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, and the anticipation is great. The new cast can be seen in the first episodes, bringing a breath of fresh air into the story. How NDR reported, the look and feel of the series has been completely modernized. With brighter images and smoother movements through the use of new Steadicams, the viewing experience becomes a visual delight.
“Rote Rosen” has become a real audience favorite since its premiere in Lüneburg in 2006 and attracts seven million day tourists every year. The renovation work on the set during a filming break of several months gave the locations a friendlier atmosphere. Producer Jan Diepers emphasizes that the audience's viewing habits have changed over the last 20 years. The new season will offer more lightness and humorous moments to give viewers a welcome break from everyday life.
A breath of fresh air for the plot
A very special highlight of the new season is that for the first time two women are at the center of the story. To bring the narrative to life, there will be four new opening credits that introduce each character's story. In addition, the title song “This Is My Life” has been given a new soundtrack by TikTok star Shana Braungart-Zink, who is a popular name with almost nine million followers.
The series not only remains one of the most successful formats in the ARD media library, but the broadcast time is secured until 2027. A lot has also changed technically: Thanks to new camera technology, outdoor filming can be done more easily, which increases the proportion of outdoor scenes in the episodes to up to 40 percent - previously it was only around 10 percent.
Competition in the telenovela genre
The creators behind “Amanecer”, producer Juan Osorio and screenwriters Pablo Ferrer García-Travesí and Santiago Pineda Aliseda, attach great importance to an emotional and visual experience through careful photography and a solid script. The rural filming locations, including strawberry fields and traditional haciendas, create a charming backdrop.
Even though “Rote Rosen” consciously gives its audience a break from everyday life, “Amanecer” is also well on the way to establishing itself in telenovela land and conquering the hearts of viewers. It remains exciting to see how the competition in the telenovela genre will develop as both formats fight for the attention of viewers.
In conclusion, it should be noted that both “Rote Rosen” and “Amanecer” are able to captivate viewers and give them emotional and entertaining hours. It seems that the telenovela genre continues to have a high status in the television world.
