Strengthen volunteerism: seminars on community service in Schaumburg!

Commitment that strengthens the community: The Schaumburg Community Foundation continues to step up its game. The successful “Fit for Volunteering” event series, which was launched in 2023, will be continued from September. The aim of the series is to support voluntary work in the region through practical seminars and specialist lectures. As SHG Aktuell reports, the kick-off event starts on September 10, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. with the topic “Non-profit purposes”. The experienced tax advisor Gebhard Hitzemann will support participants in preparing for the complex requirements in the areas of association, non-profit and tax law.

The number of participants is limited to 25 people, but repeat dates are certainly possible if demand is high. Registrations are possible both online and by telephone. The event location is the BürgerKolleg of the Schaumburg Community Foundation at Enge Str. 15, 31655 Stadthagen. The events are free of charge, which makes them attractive to many interested volunteers.

Planned topics and speakers

A look at the other topics in the series shows that the community foundation covers a wide range of relevant content. The following events follow the start:

  • 22. September 2025 – „Vereinsrecht“
  • 8. Oktober 2025 – „Der Grundsatz der Selbstlosigkeit“
  • 12. November 2025 – „Anforderungen an die tatsächliche Geschäftsführung“
  • 17. November 2025 – „Vereinsmanagement“
  • 10. Dezember 2025 – „Nachweis der tatsächlichen Geschäftsführung“

With a lot of commitment, the speakers demand little more than a good hand in communicating their specialist topics. Gebhard Hitzemann, who is also active in the Federal Association of German Foundations, and Kai-Uwe Gellermann, specialist lawyer for commercial and corporate law, guarantee well-founded information and support.

Focus on political engagement

But it's not just the community foundation that is involved. German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering emphasizes how important political commitment is for associations. The lack of clarity about the boundaries of political activity in the context of non-profit organizations requires well-founded information. Using an online seminar with Prof. Dr. Burkhard Kuestermann will clarify the legal framework for political engagement in the association's work. Among other things, topics such as liability risks and remuneration in the association are discussed.

The upcoming online events on these topics are also important and will take place on September 30th and October 1st.

The region also has exciting traditions that involve volunteer work, such as the opening of the first Extener Schützenfest in 1873. Here, too, people work tirelessly for community life. While the Schützenfest takes place from July 11th to 14th this year, there is an opportunity not only to take part in the celebration, but also to honor the voluntary commitment in the guild, which is kept alive through stories and anecdotes, as you can read at Schaumburger Wochenblatt.

This combination of seminars, political commitment and local traditions shows how important volunteering is for the social fabric in the region. Let us start the new semester of voluntary further training together and actively contribute to strengthening our community.
