Thefts and series of fires: Safety in Holdorf and the surrounding area at risk!
The last few days have brought some unpleasant events in the region. In Holdorf For example, between Wednesday, July 9th and Thursday, July 10th, 2025, unknown persons broke into a property on Gewerbering Street. It is still unclear whether the perpetrators stole anything. The Damme police are asking for information and can be reached on 05491/999360.
Another incident occurred in Goldenstedt, where a riding lawnmower was stolen from the reed path between June 26th and July 10th. The damage amounts to around 2,500 euros. Here too, the police are looking for witnesses and are accepting tips on 04444/967220.
Fire in Langförden
The fire in a garden shed on Binseweg in Langförden, which broke out at around 12:35 a.m. on the night of July 11th, also made people sit up and take notice. The cause of the fire was apparently improper disposal of ashes in a garbage can. Thanks to the quick intervention of the Langförden volunteer fire department, something worse was prevented.
To raise awareness, a similar incident occurred recently in Meinerzhagen. On the night of Friday, July 10, tools, including a lawnmower, were stolen from a garden shed there. Here too, the police are asking for information from witnesses, as it is possible that the perpetrators were active during the same period.
Police operations and resistance
There was also an aggressive incident on Friday. A 36-year-old man rioted in Meinerzhagen, where he damaged a van on Kampstrasse. When the police arrived, the man behaved extremely aggressively, which led to a physical conflict in which both a police officer and the man sustained minor injuries. The perpetrator was ultimately admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
These incidents reflect current security challenges. Loud Statista, police crime statistics show a 1.7% drop in crime in 2024, largely due to fewer cannabis offenses. Nevertheless, there are increasing reports of thefts and other attacks that affect citizens' sense of security. The highest crime figures are particularly noticeable in federal states such as North Rhine-Westphalia, where such incidents are unfortunately not isolated.
It is clear that despite statistical declines, the population's feeling of security remains impaired. The police rely on the help of residents to further reduce crime and punish such acts. So anyone who has information about the incidents mentioned should not hesitate to get in touch.
