Burglary in Saterland: Unidentified people steal tools worth 1,000 euros

Yesterday in Cologne was, as so often, marked by various events that affect both security issues and our everyday lives. A serious traffic accident was reported in Friesoythe and some criminal activity also shed light on the local security situation.

On Friday, August 15, 2025, it was reported in Friesoythe that a 23-year-old woman from the area drove her vehicle into a stopped sprinter. The 63-year-old driver of this sprinter was slightly injured. The total damage is estimated at around 3,000 euros. However, this was not the only traffic accident in Friesoythe that day - just a few hours later, around 12:20 p.m., a 77-year-old from Barßel crashed into a 58-year-old pedestrian from Bitterfeld with his three-wheel electric bike. She fell on her Pedelec and also sustained minor injuries, although there was no material damage. Such incidents remind us how important road safety is in everyday life, especially in busy areas.

Drunk driving

Another incident occurred in Bösel, where an 18-year-old driver from Garrel left the road at around 12:50 a.m. on the night of Saturday, August 16th. The young man was slightly injured in the accident and there was no damage to anyone else. Particularly striking: a breath alcohol test showed a shocking 2.33 per mille. The consequences for the perpetrator were immediate blood sampling and the confiscation of the driver's license, which is still on probation. This shows how important it is to use alcohol responsibly - especially when driving.

Crime in Saterland

In another report, which can be found at News.de, a break-in in Saterland was reported. Between Thursday, August 14th, 5:00 p.m. and Friday, August 15th, 6:00 a.m., unknown perpetrators forcibly entered a company in Krähenweg and stole tools worth around 1,000 euros. Witnesses are asked to contact the Saterland police on 04498-923770.

Taken together, these incidents make it clear that what is happening in our city is not only a matter of safety, but also a challenge for our community. Personal safety and attention are required every day, especially in traffic. It remains to be hoped that such incidents can be avoided in the future and the security situation will improve.
