BadeLand Wolfsburg: Renovation progressed - sauna will open soon!

BadeLand Wolfsburg is on the verge of a noticeable revival: after a complete closure between June 2nd and 13th, parts of the extremely popular swimming pool will be accessible to visitors again from June 14th, 2025. The sauna and sports pool areas (without diving pool) open their doors on the weekends to offer water lovers a little relaxation and fun. Anyone who feels like jumping into the cool water can use the facilities on Fridays from 5 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays, as regionalheute.de reports.

However, the joy of reopening is only part of the overall story. Gradual expansions of the offering are planned from July 12th, with the Mediterranean pool, the lazy river, the children's pool as well as the whirlpool and the water play garden being put back into operation. To use these attractive areas, visitors can look forward to daily opening times.

Renovation and prices

The renovation work in BadeLand is comprehensive, because the pool itself is not only derived from the current synchronization of pool landscapes, but also reflects the challenges that many outdoor pools in Germany face. A survey shows that more than a third of outdoor pools will need to be renovated in the next five years, a problem that also affects Wolfsburg. The OPINION report has shown that not only the need for renovation, but also the increased construction costs are placing a heavy burden on the operator, as zdfheute.de reports.

Entrance fees during the renovation phase are also important. The city has decided to introduce temporary prices from June 19, 2025, which include the following regulations: adults pay €5.30, while reduced tickets cost €3.60. Children and young people have the opportunity to swim for just €3.00, and there is also a special offer for little visitors up to two years of age for just €1.00.

Political decisions are pending

On June 18th, the city council will decide whether there should be discounts on admission prices. These decisions are important because many municipalities are struggling with the challenges of financial pressure, which the German Life Saving Society (DLRG) already pointed out at the beginning of the year: Hundreds of municipal swimming pools could close if comprehensive renovations do not take place. The future political direction and financial support from the federal government will decide whether and how pools can remain a part of local public services in the long term.

The renovation of BadeLand Wolfsburg is therefore much more than just a local project. It tragically reflects the challenges that many swimming pools in Germany face. Experts emphasize that a permanent increase in funding programs is essential to maintain such facilities. We can only hope that the future of BadeLand and similar facilities can be secured!
