On Wednesday evening, April 30, 2025, a dramatic traffic accident occurred on Burggrafenstraße in the Southeast district in Essen. At around 6:43 p.m., several callers reported that a historical pick-up had strayed from the street and drove against a traffic sign mast. As a result, the vehicle ignited and went up in flames.

The fire brigade Essen, which hurried to the site with an ambulance and a fire truck, reacted quickly. Under respiratory protection, the emergency services immediately took extinguishing measures and prevented the fire from spreading to the surrounding vegetation. The car burned out completely, while special extinguishing foams were used for final deglments. The police have investigated the cause of the accident. The Burggrafenstraße was closed during the mission.
