Anniversary celebration of the Prince's Guard: 750 guests celebrate 88 years of cheerfulness!
On February 9, 2025, the KG Prinzengarde Leverkusen celebrated its 88th anniversary in the forum with a festive session. Around 750 guests were present that evening to celebrate the Rheinische Carnival together. The event started at the opening by the Elferrat shortly after 7 p.m. Heinz Haase, Managing Director of the Prince's Guard, brought the topic of inclusion to language in his opening address. He emphasized the importance of offering a platform for all age groups and especially the younger generations.
The number 88, which has a special meaning for the guard, was prominently highlighted this evening. The prince's guard has been celebrated in the forum since 2014, and the event should not only be a review of the history, but also an occasion for joy and fun in the carnival community. Over 350 children were active that evening and danced, supported by the "Pänz Stadtgarde Opladen", who opened the event with their blue-yellow costumes.
music, dance and conviviality
The session program included a variety of entertainment offers, including music, dance and carnival cheerfulness. The guests were entertained by various bands, including "Tacheles" and "Dä Nubbel", which provided the best mood. The "Colonia Rut Wiess" and the Nippes vigilante also contributed to the festive atmosphere that the audience led through the evening.
A special highlight was the move of the Leverkusen prince couple, which was celebrated at 9:30 p.m. with loud cheers and applause. Shortly before midnight, the appearance of the Schlebusch dance group ensured a furious end of the event, which could be compared to the previous year.
tradition and community in the carnival
The Rheinische Carnival, whose roots are in the early 19th century, represents a bourgeois form of celebration, which is characterized by various elements such as carnival societies, meetings and mask balls. This tradition has been kept up to the present day and is supplemented by exclamation such as "Alaaf" and "Helau" as well as by the fool's cap and the order. The carnival period is not only an important festive factor for the respective region, but also an important cultural heritage that is rooted in Cologne and Aachen.
The principle of inclusion and the promotion of young talents, as practiced at the KG Prinzengarde, are just as important as the historical aspects of the carnival. Karenial events not only offer space for creative development, but also contribute to the consolidation of the community in the heart of Leverkusen.
