Truck accident in Hirschberg: Driver remains unharmed, high property damage!

on January 29, 2025, around 07:15 a.m., a truck accident occurred on the L541 in Hirschberg on Bergstrasse. A 21-year-old truck driver who was traveling from Hirschberg towards Heddesheim could have driven excessive speed when driving the first roundabout. When leaving the roundabout, his vehicle pushed against the left -hand traffic island and then fell against the right -sided protective bank.

As a result, the truck broke through the protective bank and slid down the embankment before it came to a standstill in an adjacent field. The driver was able to leave the vehicle independently and without injuries, but was looked after by the emergency services as a precaution. The L541 was completely closed for about 45 minutes, while the Hirschberg volunteer fire brigade moved out with three vehicles to secure the accident site. The Weinheim road maintenance department was also on site to provide support.

high property damage and complex rescue work

The property damage amounts to around 4,500 euros for the damage to the traffic island, the guardrail as well as on trees and bushes. The truck itself has damage to the vehicle front of around 9,000 euros. Due to the local conditions, it was not possible to carry out the rescue work immediately, and the exact time of rescue the truck remains unclear.

This incident is not the first truck accident in the region. A similar incident occurred on September 30, 2019 in Hirschberg when a 58-year-old driver from the Aachen area came off the road with a tractor-trailer. Even then, the cause of the accident was unclear. The tractor -trailer overturned and the driver had to be brought to the hospital slightly injured. This accident led to a full blocking of the L856 for over four hours and caused property damage of around 11,500 euros. Vehicles often come in danger, especially in poor road conditions or under unfavorable conditions, such as a Statistics from Destatis.de shows.

The recent incidents illustrate the challenges with which truck drivers and the traffic infrastructure are faced with in the region. The local authorities strive to increase security on the streets and to continuously improve the transport infrastructure. Whether it can be prevented from being prevented remains a primary goal of traffic planning.
