Customs reads on: Aachen taxi drivers often don't get the minimum wage!

In the Aachen taxi and rental car industry there are serious allegations: A test by the main customs office Aachen has shown that many drivers will probably not receive the statutory minimum wage. A total of 21 employees were interviewed during a check on May 15, 2025, whereby in twelve cases there is suspicion that the requirements are not met. There are also indications that many are not properly registered with social security.

Particularly alarming: In two cases, the drivers even drove with expired passenger transport certificates, which gives further cause. The results of this review throw a bright light on working conditions in the region and demand urgent measures to protect the rights of employees.
