Paderborn mourns: Honorary Delense leader Josef Meyer died
On Monday, March 24, 2025, the honorary fire leader of the Benhausen fire brings, chief fire chief a.d. Josef Meyer, died at the age of 92. Meyer was an important personality of the Paderborn fire brigade and was largely involved in the Franco-German partnership between the fire brigades Paderborn and Le Mans, which was launched in 1974.
His outstanding services in the fire service were recognized by numerous awards, including the silver fire brigade honorary of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (1987) and the silver cross of honor of the German Fire Brigade Association (1988). For his long -term loyalty and committed work, he was awarded the title of honorary extinguishing leaders in 1992 and in 2022 the Cross of Honor in Gold from the Paderborn Stadtfeuerwehrverband. The fire brigade Paderborn and the Schützenverein Benhausen thank Josef Meyer for his tireless efforts and will keep him an honorable commemoration.
