Bielefeld in change: an evening about history and future!

Bielefeld, Deutschland - On April 29, 2025 at 7.30 p.m. there will be an exciting event in the knowledge works city, which bears the title “Yesterday, today, tomorrow - an evening about Bielefeld”. This unique event combines science and improvisation theater, where, among other things, the deputy head of the Historical Museum Bielefeld, Dr. Christian Möller will participate. Möller, who has been working in the Historical Museum since 2022, is researching the University of Bielefeld and specializing in the history of the city and region. In addition to Möller, Nele Kießling, Marvin Meinold and Martin Knabenreich, Managing Director of Bielefeld Marketing, will also be on stage. This event offers the opportunity to discuss the changes in Bielefeld and bizarre historical facts.

The event is part of a varied program in the Historical Museum Bielefeld, which offers numerous promotions in April 2025. From April 22nd to April 25th, theater holidays take place under the motto "Magic, Myths and Modern Miracles", which are already fully booked. A workshop for stylish cell phone cases will also be offered on April 24th. A special highlight will be offered on April 26: the night visions 2025, an evening full of music, fashion and live performance that can be visited free of charge.

a versatile offer in the historical museum

In May 2025, the museum will continue to actively actively open the special exhibition "Family Laboratory" together with the University of Bielefeld on May 3. In addition, city tours and various workshops are planned, including an upcycling workshop and a reading that enrich cultural life in Bielefeld. The Bielefeld Museum Rally takes place on the International Museum Day, May 18. An information event on the digital map of the forced labor camps in Bielefeld is also offered, which can be visited free of charge.

The Historical Museum has experienced some significant innovations in recent years. New departments, including the areas of "Middle Ages", "Early Modern Times" and "19th century", have been set up. The medieval department in particular shows interesting finds from excavations from 2004, while in the Department of the Epoch of World Wars, unknown film material from the landing of a zeppelin in the Senne is presented in 1938. It is crucial to illuminate these materials through the history of Bielefeld, since the knowledge of urban and regional history is often neglected in school lessons.

With the newly designed foyer, the extended space for special exhibitions and the "Junge Museum", which specifically appeals to families and school classes, the Historical Museum becomes a lively place of encounter and learning. These initiatives show the aim of the museum to strengthen both the historical and the cultural identity of Bielefeld and to actively interact with society.
