E-scooter and e-bikes in sight: Police control traffic in Darmstadt

On Wednesday, April 23, the Darmstadt-Dieburg police department in Bismarckstrasse in Darmstadt carried out traffic controls that concentrated specifically on two-wheelers. Between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., the officials were supported by colleagues from the Rhineland-Palatinate police and the Mörfelden-Walldorf Ordinance Office. The aim was to test the practical application of the knowledge previously learned in a seminar for "electromobility in traffic".

Overall, the emergency services stopped twelve electric bicycles and five e-scooters to subject them to a precise check. The highlight of the mission was the arrest of a 62-year-old woman who was traveling on her pedelec. During the inspection, the officials found that their bike was illegally manipulated, so that the engine could drive beyond the legally permissible speed of 25 km/h. The manipulated e-bike was taken into official custody.
