Oil pollution at the Ümminger See: fire brigade in large -scale operation!
On Sunday at 3:21 p.m., the Bochum fire brigade alerted the emergency services to the Ümminger See. Reason: A threatening oil film had formed on the eastern side of the lake! Drone -supported special teams immediately moved out to localize harmful contamination. The fire brigade and the police combed the bank areas, but the cause initially remained a mystery.
To prevent worse things, the fire brigade used an oil barrier. The State Office for Nature, Environment and Climate took rehearsals of mysterious substance. After the first measures were completed around 7:30 p.m., the emergency services handed over the location of the lower water authority. Around 20 firefighters from the Wachen Werne and Wattenscheid as well as numerous supporters were deployed. During the measures, some pedestrian paths had to be blocked to ensure security. The police have now started the investigation to track down the cause!
